Full power for the final third of the Bundeliga season and then directly on to the European Championships in June – that’s on the schedule for Werder Bremen’s striker Markus Rosenberg in the coming weeks, and he is hoping his journey will end in Switzerland and Austrian for EURO 2008.

Full power for the final third of the Bundeliga season and then directly on to the European Championships in June – that’s on the schedule for Werder Bremen’s striker Markus Rosenberg in the coming weeks, and he is hoping his journey will end in Switzerland and Austrian for EURO 2008.

“With Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Johan Elmander, we have two very strong strikers but there will surely be five strikers nominated and I am sure that I will be one of them”, explained the likeable Swede.

The front man is hoping to get in the goal scoring routine for the Green-Whites and then his journey to the Alps won’t end on the bench – as it did during the 2006 World Cup. ‘Rosi’ has high hopes of what EURO 2008 could hold in store: “I did manage to score in qualifying for the European Championships and my expectations are much greater now than they were prior to the World Cup. Back then I was relatively new to the national side and hadn’t won so many caps, so I was just happy to be there. Now, of course, I want more!!”

We could well see the duo of Ibrahimovic / Rosenberg worrying defences at the European Championships. ‘Rosi’ knows the Inter Milan superstar very well from their days together at Malmö FF. “We got to know one another when he joined Malmö FF as a thirteen year old. We were never really great friends but we had a good understanding and we speak a lot when we are together with the national team – coming from the same city forms certain connections.”
