Despite the disappointment of an unfortunate defeat in Frankfurt, Werder’s coaching-staff and players are looking positively to the tasks ahead. Klaus Allofs, Thomas Schaaf, Tim Borowski and Ivan Klasnic spoke to werder.de after the game.

Klaus Allofs (general manager Werder Bremen): "The team took a few minutes to really get going in the first half but after that we played very well, although we weren’t stringent enough going forward. The goal we conceded came as the result of a whole chain of errors. Sebastian Boenisch did make a mistake at that moment but on the whole he had a sensational game. It’s good for us that we have a number of players available to us again who can really help the team."

Thomas Schaaf (coach Werder Bremen): "We had situations in which we were free in front of gaol but didn’t put the ball in the net - we have to produce more than that! Our performance in the second half was more like what we had wished for. I really have to compliment my team on the way they played attacking football and battled after such a short rest - and that with ten men."

Tim Borowski: "From our point of view, it’s uninteresting how the others play - we have to go our own way. We may not have achieved the result we’d hoped for today but we went about things with the right attitude."

Ivan Klasnic: "I see it very positively that we were able to produce the form we did despite the strain of the UEFA Cup game. When you put on a performance like that and show that kind of morale, it’s certainly not a set-back."
