FIFA referee Dr. Helmut Fleischer will take charge of this Saturday afternoon’s Bundesliga clash between Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt. The doctor from Sigmertshausen has refereed regularly in the Bundesliga since 1998 and has been involved on the international stage since 2000.
This will be the 19th occasion that Dr. Fleischer has taken charge of a game involving Werder Bremen and under his watchful eye, the Green-Whites have won eight, drawn five and lost six. Dr. Fleischer last refereed Bremen on 10.11.2007 when Werder beat Karlsruhe 4:0 at the Weser Stadium.
Thomas Schaaf’s men will have fond memories of Eintracht Frankfurt too. On the fourth match day of the current season, Werder beat Frankfurt 2:1 thanks to goals from Boubacar Sanogo and a directly converted free-kick by Petri Pasanen. Eintracht’s goal on the day was scored by Michael Thurk.
