Trainer Ottmar Hitzfeld (Bayern Munich): "It was a hard fought game during which neither side gave the other much breathing space. Bremen didn’t hide and got into the game aggressively. Diego danced through our defence fantastically for the 0:1. The search for the equaliser cost us a lot of energy and the missed penalty just added to that. I’m not really satisfied with the final result because we failed to take the chance to increase our lead to six points."
Trainer Thomas Schaaf (Werder Bremen): "I think we can consider the result satisfying because we stuck to our guns. We persisted in trying to force our style of play onto the game and move forward determinedly. I am a little dissatisfied with the second half. We gave away the ball too easily and took too many risks in our attempts to play attacking football. We need to keep a lid on that but I think we can continue down this road."
