Mertesacker to face Harnik – eight Werder players nominated for international duty

The football year of 2008 has only just gotten underway and, in particular for Werder Bremen’s abundance of international players, already the schedule is packed. Werder’s internationals have some attractive games to look forward to in the coming week.

On Wednesday, 06.02.2008, Per Mertesacker and the German national team will take on Austria in Vienna where the central defender will clash with club team mate Martin Harnik.

 

On the same evening, Werder striker Hugo Almeida will be involved in a prep game for the Euro 2008 tournament. The Portuguese will face World Champions Italy in Zurich. The Green-Whites midfielder Jurica Vranjes will be in action with Croatia as they take on Holland in Split. Dusko Tosic has been named in the Serbian squad for their game against Macedonia in Skopje.

 

European Championship participants Sweden will have Werder front man Markus Rosenberg in their squad on Wednesday when they take on Turkey in Istanbul. Daniel Jensen will be on Duty for Denmark when they take on Slovenia in a friendly match in Nova Gorica. Aaron Hunt has again received a call-up to the German U21 squad along with new Werder signing Mesut Özil for their clash with Belgium.
