Werder Bremen are currently looking at the possibility of arranging a loan deal with FC Sao Paulo for their Brazilian midfielder Carlos Alberto. Klaus Allofs made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon in Belek, Turkey. The 23 year old will make his way back to Brazil on Tuesday to undergo a medical examination but a definite decision on a possible loan move is yet to be made.
Werder Bremen’s general manager commented: “We discussed how things should continue together with Carlos and came to the conclusion that a loan move back to Brazil would be the best solution for all involved and then allow him the chance to start in Bremen again in six months time.”
The Brazilian, who didn’t make the trip to the training camp in Turkey due to a thyroid gland problem and remained in Bremen to train, said on Tuesday: “Considering how the last half year has panned out and all of the health problems which have caused me a lot of set-backs, I would like to get back to full fitness as quickly as possible. I think that will function best in the more familiar surroundings in Brazil where I can get some match practice with Sao Paulo.”
Carlos Alberto made the move to the Weser from Brazilian cup winners Fluminense in July 2007.
