With just two days to go before the Werder Bremen contingency heads off for their training camp in Turkey, Thomas Schaaf gathered his men together for a light jog through Bremen’s ‘Bürgerpark’. Carlos Alberto, Torsten Fings and Pierre Wome didn’t join their colleagues for the session but went through an individual programme simultaneously.
Whilst the rest of the squad were being put through their paces, Boubacar Sanogo was busy with his travel plans. The striker will head off to join his international colleagues from the Ivory Coast in Ghana where they are currently preparing for the African Cup of Nations. The administrative problems, which plagued the front man a couple of days ago, have since been cleared up. “He will definitely head off today and not join us at our training camp”, confirmed Thomas Schaaf on Sunday morning.
The countdown to the big trip to Turkey has long since begun for trainer Thomas Schaaf and preparations are in full swing with the corridors around the Weser Stadium packed with all of the utensils which will be needed in Belek: “There’s still a lot of work to do. We won’t have much peace over the next few days”, noted the coach, and he was speaking for the whole club when he said it.
