Werder Bremen took the time on Monday and Tuesday to have a Christmas party of sorts by way of thanking the 100 schools and 100 clubs as well as the sponsors involved in the charity actions last year. Werder manager Klaus-Dieter Fischer was clearly delighted at celebrating the fifth anniversary of the project which was presented with the 'NordWest Award' in November 2007 from the Bremen central bank: "I am very proud of the work we have done together in the last five years. This project would never have been so successful without the support of the schools and clubs who participated and for that reason I would like to allow them to play a part in enjoying this award", explained Fischer at the allocation of the prize money.
The €20,000 premium will be donated entirely to the schools and clubs involved in the project. In a raffle scenario, 20 schools and 20 clubs will each recieve €500 from the pay-out. The winners will have the opportunity to use the money in order to invest in sports utensils, equipment and clothing.
