Werder Bremen has reacted to the critical comments made by full-back Pierre Womé concerning the clubs medical department. In an interview this afternoon, the Cameroon international criticised the medical provision of Werder’s players and was quoted as saying that he was incorrectly consulted concerning his groin injury.
General manager Klaus Allofs reacted to the comments of the player by saying: “Pierre was fully informed as to the extremity of his injury from the very start. He had a free choice of doctors and made the decision himself to undergo his treatment abroad. We allotted his the time he needed to recover but the fact is that after many months of consultation with the doctor of his choice, he is still not fit enough to play”. Allofs went on to give his support to the clubs medical team: “We can all appreciate the fact that Pierre Womé is disappointed about his personal situation but the accusations he has made are absolutely unacceptable. We have no reason at all to doubt our team doctor. We are in complete support of Dr. Dimanski and his team.”
