Werder Bremen GmbH & Co. KG Aa (which is basically a limited liability status) turned over a record revenue of €105,8 million in the last business year to sweep past the sum of €77,4 million which went on the books the previous year. The success of the business year, which ended on 30.06.2007 was clear to see. The result for the Champions League participants was a plus of €8,3 million. The financial data was announced by Jürgen L. Born, chairman of the board at Werder Bremen GmbH & Co KG Aa, at a general meeting of the clubs members on Monday evening.
For the club, a massive step forward in their development has been proven: “Although the figures may show that, on a financial level, we are not operating with the same resources of other top clubs in Europe, the 36% growth on last year is very impressive”, commented Born.
Despite the success, Werder’s board of management, which includes alongside Born, general manager Klaus Allofs, Klaus-Dieter Fischer and Manfred Müller, are remaining modest. Jürgen L. Born explained: “It must also be made clear that these figures include transactions from the World Cup and payments from the Kirch-Group which amount to some five million euros.”
On the whole, the chairman sees the situation positively: “The fact is that the business is in not debt and possesses a reserve thanks to the fantastic squad of players here. The personnel continuity of the Hanseatic club and the connected sporting success can be read once again at Werder in black and white.”
