Werder playmaker Aaron Hunt is back to full training while Philipp Bargfrede appeared on the training grounds with his teammates for the first time since his meniscus surgery.
"I have only been fully fit since yesterday. I feel really good again," said Werder's midfielder Hunt after training on Wednesday. Bargfrede meanwhile is on the way back as he appeared on the pitch with his teammates for the first time since his meniscus surgery, going through some warm-up exercises before completing an individual session away from his colleagues. "These are the first small steps on the way back. Hopefully he can keep it going," said Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf, who must be a bit patient before getting the 23-year-old Bargfrede back in the mix.
Bargfrede did not have to train alone though. Captain Clemens Fritz is also working hard for a quick return to the team. Fritz has had to sit out of training with the flu, but he is not as far along as Hunt. "Clemens had a running session today. How quickly he returns will depend on how his body reacts to the burden," said Schaaf, who called his team together in the afternoon for a video analysis session.
