In temperatures around the freezing point on Tuesday afternoon 15 November 2011, Werder's players practiced with gloves, hats and long underwear. Also on hand was Aaron Hunt, who was able to practice again after his knee problems. "The training did good. I didn't have any more serious problems. Now I am waiting for the next session," said Hunt after training.
Not yet back at training were Naldo and Marko Marin. "Naldo is still sick. It doesn't look good," said head coach Thomas Schaaf about the Brazilian's chances of playing on Saturday in Gladbach. The Werder coach was more optimistic about Marin. "We have to see how much he can do tomorrow. Maybe he can complete a running session," said Schaaf, who hopes for a return of the 22-year-old.
Lennart Thy, Florian Trinks and Bernd Düker meanwhile were back at training after their international break. Last weekend they played for the German U20 national team while Werder's other junior internationals Niklas Füllkrug, Florian Hartherz and Tom Trybull (all U19 Germans) helped fill out the Werder training group. The remaining international players are expected back in Bremen on Wednesday or Thursday.
