The German national team picked up their first victory during their trip in the United States and Werder midfielder Aaron Hunt earned his third international cap in Germany's 4-2 victory over Ecuador. The Germans started excellently in the friendly, leading 4-0 after 24 minutes with two goals each by Lukas Podolski and Lars Bender.

Ecuador, 10th in the FIFA world rankings, improved their game after that and did score two goals for a more respectable result. Hunt was brought on in the 57th minute to replace Julian Draxler, playing for the third time for Germany after previous matches against Ivory Coast and Denmark.
