Aaron Hunt had to leave training early on Tuesday with an injury and the midfield all-arounder was not yet back with his team on the pitch a day later. The reason is a calf injury which kept the deputy captain out of training. It's not yet clear if Hunt will be able to play in the last match of the first half on Saturday against Bayer Leverkusen (21 December 2013 at 3:30 p.m.).

"It will be pretty tight with Saturday since it's not yet clear how the injury will develop. I will see if I can train Friday without any problems. If that works out then it should be okay for an appearance against Leverkusen," Hunt told WERDER.DE.

The chances of playing on Saturday were better for another Werder player as Nils Petersen, who missed Tuesday training with muscle problems, was back on the Bremen grounds training on Wednesday - albeit for individual workouts. "I trained today without any pain but I cannot go all out just yet. I will test it before tomorrow's training session to see if it's okay for team training. If it looks good, then the chances are also good that I can play against Leverkusen," said Petersen.

The 25-year-old striker took the pitch after a good half hour along with Predrag Stevanovic and Lukas Schmitz. The latter was back on the pitch for the first time since injuring a rear thigh muscle in the Bundesliga match against Hoffenheim. It's not yet clear if the left back Schmitz will be an option for the roster against Leverkusen.
