There was a collective sigh of relief on Saturday as Aaron Hunt was able to recover from his angina and trained in full with the team in the afternoon. That means the deputy captain is more or less cleared to play on Sunday against Eintracht Braunschweig (starting at 3:15 p.m. in live ticker on WERDER.DE).
"I am happy to be back again. Everything is okay, I am fit. Now I assume that I can play," said the returnee after the session. Hunt is more worried about the icy temperatures with which the team had to deal on Saturday. "This was not the perfect weather to come back after an angina. But now I can go back to bed," said the 27-year-old with a grin.
But regardless of the temperatures, chances are good that the deputy captain can take over his usual leadership role in the midfield. "If Aaron is fit, I assume that he can play. I still have in the back of my mind that he cannot play. Still, I don't think we need to worry about that," said head coach Robin Dutt.
Philipp Bargfrede was also happy about the good news about his teammate. "If we had to play without Aaron of course it would have weakened us. He is a very important player for us, especially offensively. Now I hope that he can play the full 90 minutes," said Bargfrede.
