Aaron Hunt and Marko Arnautovic were both sick and missed training on Thursday, spending the day at home in bed instead of at the frosty training grounds of Weser Stadium. While Hunt was out with a cold, Arnautovic was dealing with a stomach flu.
Head coach Thomas Schaaf could not say if the two midfielders would be fit in time for the North Derby against Hamburg. "We have to wait and be patient and see if it's better or worse tomorrow," said Schaaf. Both could benefit from the fact that the Green-Whites do not play in Hamburg until Sunday. "Of course, the one extra day before the next game could help us. With the flu, one day usually decides if the illness is fully gone or not," said Schaaf.
