SV Werder Bremen have acquired Santiago Garcia as the 25-year-old Argentinean left back was brought in on loan from Chilean side Rangers de Talca. There is a buy-out option as well.
Werder manager Thomas Eichin is happy about the completion of the negotiations. "We have reached an agreement between all parties, also with Santiago's previous club US Palermo," said Eichin. "Now there is nothing stopping him from playing for us. We are happy about having a new dynamic defender in our team," added Eichin. Garcia, who terminated his contract with the club prematurely, took part in the morning training Sunday.
Garcia played 56 matches in the Italian Serie A, 21 appearances for Novara Calcio 1908 and 35 matches (two goals) for US Palermo. The 25-year-old played for Palermo during the 2010-11 season, also appearing in three Europa League contests as well as five Italian Cup matches. Before moving to Italy, the Argentinean, who has an Italian passport, appeared in 14 matches in Argentina's top flight the Primera Division.
