Santiago Garcia dug, fought and played a lot of balls forward. The leftback ran more than any Bremen player in his Bundesliga debut, racing 11.8 kilometres while winning 63 percent of his tackles. Teammates, coaches and the Green-Whites manager were all still excited about the Argentinean's performance two days after the 2-0 derby win.
Garcia had a strong debut in a Green-Whites jersey. He shut down the left side of the defence and also had a lot of strong plays up front in the North Derby against Hamburg. "It was a lot of fun and was a really nice atmosphere. I am satisfied with my performance and happy that we kept a clean sheet. But even more important is that the team continues to improve," said Garcia after his first 90-minute performance in Germany's top flight.
"Santiago played a solid game. He created a lot of pressure from outside and really went into the tackles," said head coach Robin Dutt.
