G - German Cup final: There is always a winner in German Cup matches - there's no such thing as a draw. Six German Cup titles - five of them in the past 20 years - prove that Werder Bremen's teams have always been successful in the competition. Last season the Green-Whites faced off against Bayern Munich in the final. And once again, it was all or nothing. But this time it was Bayern who were better in winning the 2010 German Cup title with a 4-0 victory over Werder. "You have to be honest today and congratulate FC Bayern on a strong performance and a deserved cup title," said Bremen captain Torsten Frings. In late October the two giants faced off again in the second round of the German Cup and led 1-0 before conceding the equaliser. Sebastian Prödl once again gave Bremen the lead. The rest of the story is well known and we don't want to ruin the Christmas mood.

H - Helicopter: The look on striker Antonio Cassano's face was as if he was in so much pain that Werder fans themselves would want to call for the Christoph 31 helicopter to fly in. Werder Bremen were trailing 3-0 against Sampdoria Genua in the return leg of the Champions League qualification. The Green-Whites' nice 3-1 cushion from the first leg a week earlier was long gone. And Cassano was doing all he could to make sure his team would advance. Five minutes before the final whistle his heel goal had seemed to have decided the tie. And shortly thereafter he was lying on the ground after a harmless challenge, gesturing for a substitution but in reality doing nothing more than running time off the clock. But referee Viktor Kassai was keeping track of injury time and in the third minute of it Markus Rosenberg struck to send the game into extra time. Claudio Pizarro scored in extra time and Werder ended up losing 3-2 but advancing to the Champions League with "one of the nicest defeats ever" according to manager Klaus Allofs.
I - Internet: Werder Bremen are becoming a real brand in all areas, with impressive loyalty values to show well throughout Europe. In May 2010, an independent study of the TU Dortmund university showed that Werder Bremen was the most attractive and favourite club in Germany among more than 6,000 football fans surveyed. Among the reasons undoubtedly is the Green-Whites' internet presence where they rank tied for fourth with Hamburg behind Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke. And since 21 December 2010 Werder fans can enjoy Werder's new Internet presence. The re-launch makes the club's website more clearly laid out and more emotional. Werder have also been providing "100 percent" since late October with their Facebook page, which has attracted 90,000 fans in just two months.
