Bad news for Niclas Füllkrug and SV Werder Bremen as the 19-year-old striker will be out indefinitely with a right knee injury. Füllkrug will travel on Sunday 3 February 2013 to see knee specialist Dr. Ulrich Boenisch in Augsburg where he will undergo an arthroscopic procedure the following Monday.
"We are sorry that Niclas has been set back. We have to wait and see how long he will be out. We will know more next week. We wish Niclas a speedy recovery and hope that he is back on the pitch as quickly as possible," said head coach Thomas Schaaf Monday afternoon.
The German U20 international Füllkrug had received more and more attention at the beginning of the season with strong performances, appearing in 12 matches in the first half of the season and scoring his first goal of the season against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
