Offensive player Niclas Füllkrug has been sent on loan for the rest of the season to SpVgg Greuther Fürth. SV Werder agreed to the move with the Werder talent and the German second division side, who will not have a buy-out option for Füllkrug, who has a contract with the Green-Whites until 2015.
Füllkrug will sign the corresponding contract on Monday - given he passes a physical - and then be officially introduced. The 20-year-old bid farewell to his team-mates in Bremen Saturday morning.
Manager Thomas Eichin sees the move as an important developmental step for the player. "We are absolutely convinced of his qualities and assume that he will have an important role for Werder in the future. But Niclas must get the chance now to make the next step. And to do so you need a lot of playing time at a high level. We believe that he has very good chances at Fürth to gain this experience and return as an improved player," said Eichin.
Füllkrug arrived at SV Werder Bremen in 2006 and played in all the youth teams starting with the U15s. In the past two Bundesliga seasons, he played in 25 matches and scored two goals.
