The personnel situation is improving ever so slightly in Bremen as Clemens Fritz once again was full on board at team training while Aaron Hunt, Mehmet Ekici and Lukas Schmitz are all on a good way to getting there. While Fritz received the green light from team doctor Götz Dimanski to practice after his broken collarbone and rib, Hunt, Ekici and Schmitz worked individually on getting back. The trio hopes to return to full training by Thursday at the latest.
"The fever is fully gone, I felt a lot better even yesterday. I will train with the team tomorrow and I hope a couple other players will follow so that we will have a full squad for Saturday," said Hunt after his some 45-minute running session with physiotherapist Florian Lauerer.
"The test this morning went well. I didn't have any problems with my stomach. I feel good again. I should be able to play on Saturday," said Bremen leftback Schmitz, who had been battling stomach pain the last couple days. "The groin isn't giving me any problems, and that's good," added Ekici. Both Schmitz and Ekici trained on Tuesday separately with Levent Aycicek and Cimo Röcker (foot injury and oral surgery, respectively).
Nils Petersen and Aleksandar Ignjovski meanwhile were not to be found on the Weser Stadium. "They both have a stomach flu," said Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf.
