Werder team doctor Dr. Götz Dimanski said in mid-October that Clemens Fritz would miss six weeks with a torn tendon in his adductors. Well, he was right. Exactly six weeks later, the Green-Whites' captain made his return to team training Wednesday morning. "I feel good. It was important for me to train with the team and not sense anything where I was injured," said Fritz after his return to the pitch with his teammates.
But the 31-year-old emphasised that everyone should wait a couple days to see how things hold up. "We have to see how I deal with the stress," said the defender.
Aleksandar Stevanovic also returned to the training grounds after a four-month injury break. He completed an individual running session with athletic coach Reinhard Schnittker. The 20-year-old Stevanovic broke his collarbone in early August. The Stevanovic family has not quite beaten the injury bug just yet as older brother Predrag is still labouring with a torn knee ligament which has kept him away from football for two months.
