Clemens Fritz has completed his first training back with the team. After training with the reserves on Sunday, Fritz made his return to the full team on Monday. And the captain reacted positively to the comeback. "I am doing good. My body overcame the burden well. I hope that it holds up this week," said Fritz.
Should Fritz get through the week of training ahead of the next home match against Gladbach (Sat. 15 February 2014 at 3:30 p.m.) pain-free, then the veteran right-back could be an option for the roster. "What's important will be going into the coming work with a positive frame of mind," said the 33-year-old.
Aaron Hunt and Sebastian Prödl however did not take part in training on Monday. Prödl was excused for private reasons while Werder's deputy captain Hunt was out after having left Sunday's session with minor patella tendon irritation. Hunt is also labouring with a cold. It's unclear if he can be back for training on Tuesday, as is expected for Prödl.
There is new information about Luca Zander. The youngster remains out of training with left knee tendon irritation but the 18-year-old is in good spirits and hopeful to return soon. "It's getting better. I hope that I can go again soon," Zander told WERDER.DE.
