Werder's Clemens Fritz was able to take part in the complete training session Thursday after his vocal chord operation. While he is usually quite loud during training with his teammates, the defender had to be careful not to push his voice during the session. "Loud commands are not yet possible. That makes it a bit more difficult," whispered Fritz after training. Otherwise, the 30-year-old can practice without any other constraints, and he will be on hand for the test match against BSV Schwarz-Weiß Rehden Friday evening. An appearance against the Oberliga side from Lower Saxony is still too early though for Felix Kroos (groin strain) and Dominik Schmidt (knee problems). Philipp Bargfrede will also not be playing as the midfielder must wait until the wound following his heel heals. Bargfrede is expected back at training next week.

Samuel: "I am top fit and feel really good"

But Samuel could make his first appearance in Werder dress on Friday. "You can assume that," said Schaaf. The Brazilian winter acquisition says he would be ready to play. "I am top fit and feel really good in Bremen in general. I have integrated myself well. Whenever I play of course I want to show that I can help the team," said the defender.
