A major star would like to bid farewell as Torsten Frings will officially say goodbye to all football fans, especially his Bremen supporters, on Saturday 7 September 2013. A major farewell match is planned for early in the evening (kick-off not yet scheduled) at Weser Stadium, where a number of figures along the way in his 19-year professional career will pay their last respects to Werder's future coaching trainee.

The 36-year-old would like to experience a "big and emotional Green-Whites family festival". "I would like to thank Werder especially for the support," said Frings. "I was never really able to say farewell to the fans in Bremen. With this event, I would like to thank all the loyal supporters who always supported me over the years."

"Lutscher" has invited 60 players to be alongside him on the day and make the match unforgettable. "I am amazingly proud that I have already received commitments from 26 players. Many got back to me immediately via text message," said Frings. Former stars such as Ailton, Patrick Owomoyela, Marco Bode, Diego and Frank Baumann have already confirmed their appearance for the Werder Team. Among those expected in the opposing team of friends and former colleagues are Michael Ballack, Lars Ricken, Lothar Matthäus and Michael Schumacher.

In addition to the number of great guests, a colourful side program is currently being planned. Prices for tickets will range between 10 and 40 euros and tickets will be available on WERDER.DE starting on Monday. Frings, who earned 89 caps for Germany and will start a coaching traineeship program with SV Werder on Friday (28 June 2013), will support social projects in Bremen with proceeds from the farewell match.
