Reunion of old friends: SV Werder and VfL Oldenburg will face off in a test match as part of the preparations for the 2014-15 season on Sunday 29 June 2014 - the fifth time the teams will play in seven years. The friendly, which will kick off at 3 p.m. at Oldenburg's Marschweg Stadium, is the Green-Whites' final game before their trip to China, where Werder will play two test matches.

Three days after the official start of training at Weser Stadium on 26 June 2014, Robin Dutt's team will head to Oldenburg about 50 kilometres away. Oldenburg are currently fighting to remain in the Oberliga Niedersachsen league. With two match days left before the end of the season, Ulf Kliche's team has 33 points for 12th place - the last non-relegation spot.
