Upon the end of his term, Werder president Klaus-Dieter Fischer was re-elected unanimously by the executive board Tuesday night as manager of the Werder Bremen GmbH & Co KGaA.
While managers Klaus Filbry and Thomas Eichin are appointed by the supervisory board, Fischer was confirmed for two more years as the head of the football academy, women's football, social management and other sports. Upon his own request, Fischer's term will end on 31 December 2014. "I suggested that date to the board because starting on 1 January 2015 I would like to carry out only my honorary office as president of the club. As a successor for management starting on 1 January 2015, I recommended my representative in the board, Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald," said Fischer.
Fischer's term as club president will then end in the fall of 2015. "Whether or not I will run again as honorary president will be decided by the election committee, at the members' assembly and by myself."
Fischer has held a leadership function with SV Werder since 1970 and has worked as board director since the re-structuring in 1999 and as manager and president since the outsourcing of the capital company in 2004.
