The preparations for the second half of the Bundesliga season have now moved into the final phase. A week before the Bundesliga restart, the Green-Whites will take on fellow top-flight side Hannover 96 on Saturday, January 24th (3:30pm). Werder coach Viktor Skripnik has his complete squad available for selection, with the only exceptions being Sebastian Prödl, Julian von Haacke and Özkan Yildirim, as well as Cedrick Makiadi (on duty at the African Cup of Nations). Skripnik will announce his squad, which will be reduced to 19 players, on Saturday.

On Friday afternoon, Fritz, Wolf & Co. went through a final pre-match training session in icy conditions at the Weser. Before the 19-man squad departs on the relatively short trip to the banks of the Leine on Saturday, the Green-Whites will first meet for lunch together at the Weser-Stadium, from where they will then make their way to the HDI-Arena.
