Werder fans were in such a rage after the disappointing cup elimination that some jumped over the fences at Ludwigspark Stadium to let their frustration out. They needed to vent their anger. And head coach Robin Dutt and his team absolutely understood their human reaction. "The fans are really mad, it was really pent up. This eruption is absolutely justifiable and it was immediately clear that me as head coach and Clemens as captain needed to talk to our fans," said Dutt about the talk with the fans after the match.
"We have to accept every accusation on a day like this and put up with them. But I am also happy that there were also conciliatory gestures from our fans in the end," added Dutt. Captain Clemens Fritz also didn't wait at all to head to the fans after the match. "We needed to talk to them there because they took so much upon themselves. They drove 600 kilometres here and then saw the third first round loss in a row. That is really bad," said Fritz.
