Within 50 minutes, the number of Werder Facebook fans increased by 800 Green-Whites supporters and broke the 300,000 barrier.
That makes Werder one of only four Bundesliga clubs whose official page on the Facebook social media platform has more than 300,000 fans. Bremen are fourth behind Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke.
It pays to click on the "Like" button on Werder's Facebook page. The profile is informative, gives the fans a forum and also has a high entertainment value as Clemens Fritz also recently found out. "I am one of the 300,000 and congratulate the club for this occasion," said Fritz.
Werder's Chairman of the Management Board Klaus Allofs was happy about the popularity. "Our fans have proven once again that we can always rely on their support," said Allofs. "It is nearly a year ago that we officially started our Facebook page. Since then we have gained importance in the social media world, but I would have never imagined that we would get 300,000 fans so quickly. A big thank you out to all our supporters," said media director Tino Polster.
