SV Werder have reached another success in the social web. About two weeks after the Green-Whites earned the top spot of all professional clubs in a quantitative and qualitative Social Media study by the Macromedia Academy for Media and Communication, SV Werder passed the 400,000 fans mark for its official Facebook page. That makes Werder the fourth club in Germany to reach this mark.
"After the success of the study, our growth is another indication that we have taken the right path in the social web and that Social Media has continued to be more meaningful," said media director Tino Polster. "The great number of 400,000 fans shows not only the interest in our Facebook page but mirrors our fan base and the continued loyalty of our supporters."
Polster believes the key to the success in the media is "the mix of informative and entertaining content as well as prize contests and participation campaigns. But the new form of fan communication is also well-received by us and our supporters."
SV Werder's Facebook presence has been professionally supervised since October 2010. A look at Werder's page on the world's biggest social network is like a peak through the keyhole. On the Green-Whites' Wall, fans get regular impressions of training, current news about the professional team as well as exclusive photos and videos. In addition, you can discuss, vote on and take part in various campaigns.
