SV Werder Bremen started their new training week Tuesday without their international players but Eljero Elia was back once again. "I had some pain walking since Saturday so that's why I couldn't think of training. But now it's a lot better. It still hurts a little bit when I press on my hips, but I was able to take part in all of the training today," said Elia after his return.
The Dutchman had been out with an iliac crest bruise suffered in the match against Gladbach. Now the winger wants to do his part in bringing Bremen back to success. "We started well with six points. Since then we haven't picked up points in two matches. Now we have a home match. We have to really give our all and get three points. Then it will look a bit better on the table," said the 26-year-old.
Lukas Schmitz however will not be available for the home match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday 14 September 2013 at 3:30 p.m. The left back, who has missed time with a broken foot tarsal, did take part in individual training on Tuesday. Schmitz ran some laps parallel to team training with fitness trainer Reinhard Schnittker.
Clemens Fritz meanwhile could not train with the team with muscular problems. He will undergo further examinations on Wednesday to determine how long the Green-Whites will be without their captain.
The training group Tuesday was filled by three youngsters from the U23 team - Melvyn Lorenzen, Julian von Haacke and Oliver Hüsing. It remains unclear if the trio will once again work out with the professional players on Wednesday at training at 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
