Some 3,000 Werder fans are expected to accompany the Green-Whites to Saarbrücken's Ludwigspark Stadium this Sunday for the German DFB Cup first round match. But it remains questionable if Eljero Elia will be able to play or not. "It's getting tight with Eljero. He is not allowed to participate in sports right now with his grippe injection. We are being instructed by our doc on this right now. We will talk about it on Saturday and then make a decision," said head coach Robin Dutt on Friday.
Marko Arnautovic meanwhile will definitely be on the game roster. The Austrian international is also a possible replacement for Elia. Arnautovic started his season preparations with the second training camp in Zillertal and has since made up the training deficits. "Marko is clearly livelier and gotten stronger in locomotive movements. Over the last few weeks, he has trained very well and very hard. He is on a good way," said Dutt about the 24-year-old at Friday afternoon's official press conference.
Just like Arnautovic, Niclas Füllkrug or Özkan Yildirim could also take over Elia's role on the right side. "The guys all give you a lively impression," said Dutt about the other options. "In essence, I could just flip a coin. I have a good feeling with each of them."
