The fact that Eljero Elia did not take the training grounds Tuesday with his teammates left some people concerned. Had the winger suffered an injury during the home victory on Saturday? Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf said no and cleared up the situation. "Him being out doesn't have anything to do with an injury. ‘Elli' travelled back home because his girlfriend is expecting a baby," said Schaaf. The 25-year-old Dutchman and girlfriend Sanne already have one child, a daughter Sael.

Schaaf also was missing defensive boss Sokratis, who continues to suffer from a calf injury after taking a knock from Andreas Ivanschitz in Werder's 2-1 win over Mainz and being subbed out at half-time. Schaaf will also be without the Greek international defender tomorrow. "He is getting better. ‘Papas' should be able to return to team training on Thursday," said Schaaf. The coach assumes that Sokratis will be available for the away match against Schalke 04 on Saturday 10 November 2012 at 3:30 p.m.

Joseph Akpala also offered a positive prognosis after the training session. The Nigerian received a knock on his left shin during a challenge with Aaron Hunt. But he seemed in good spirits on his way back to the changing room. His quick all-clear came in the form of a brief "thumbs up" and a wide smile.
