Mehmet Ekici returned to team training today after overcoming a flu that had forced the Turkish international to miss all of this week's training. "I haven't gotten rid of the flu 100 percent, but I feel much better," said a pleased Ekici. The 22-year-old was cautious about announcing his availability for the match against VfB Stuttgart on Sunday. "I missed a couple of days. We have to see how it develops."

Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf also refrained from giving a prognosis. "He does not have the strength in his movements yet. We must wait and observe training over the next two days to see if he will be fit for Sunday," said Schaaf on Thursday.

Marko Arnautovic meanwhile was absent from the grounds in the morning as he underwent a medical check-up for his insurance. He will make up the training in the afternoon and practice again with the team tomorrow.
