SV Werder have thus far acquired two new players as Cedrick Makiadi and Luca Caldirola are expected to strengthen the Green-Whites. Head coach Robin Dutt will have the six days in Zillertal to get an impression of the two players who joined the team on Sunday. While it was not a first but just a new impression of Makiadi, the Bremen coach met Luca Caldirola for the first time.
"We warmly welcomed each other when we saw each other again," said Dutt about seeing Makiadi again. Makiadi played under Dutt while in SC Freiburg. "We had a super time together and Cedrick played a big role in that. He's a good guy. I am very happy that he is with us. He's a re-enforcement both personally and football-wise. He knows my trains of thought and knows immediately what I want and can then help the young players," said the 48-year-old, who knows what he has in his player. "He's not a loudspeaker, but you will see on the pitch that he is a leader. What he says makes sense, he is an objective guy."
Caldirola meanwhile left a good first impression with the coach. "With Marko Arnautovic he has a point of contact who speaks Italian. In addition, he shares a room with Sebastian Prödl with whom he can speak English. That was very important for us. Together with the two of them and Damir Buric, we are getting him lined up, also because Luca is an intelligent youngster," said the Bremen coach. Caldirola was happy about his first 24 hours with the team. "The team accepted me really well. They made my entry very easy," said the 22-year-old. And to ease the communication among all, the defender is trying to learn German as quickly as possible. "I already know the most important phrases in football," said Caldirola.
New for the Italian is the way the team trains. "It's harder than in Italy. There we often only trained for an hour. Here we are practicing longer and more intensively. But that does me very good and will help me move forward," said Caldirola. Striker Nils Petersen is happy about the new acquisitions. "There hasn't been much time yet to get to know each other that well but they are both nice guys who fit in with us," said Petersen.
