Werder Bremen are back on the island. And while Clemens Fritz, Aaron Hunt and company have already spent countless hours in preparations on Norderney, head coach Robin Dutt was entering new territory on Monday afternoon at about 1:30 p.m. It was the first time the Werder coach had been to the East Frisian island. "I was looking forward to the time together with the team. I will have the time here to have some longer individual talks," said Dutt.
Dutt has changed the course of training for the Green-Whites. "There will certainly be a few runs, though it looks like we will not be running before breakfast. We will be able to do some more differentiated work here. A part of the group will work on football things and the other part in athletic areas. That will be the focus," said the new Werder coach. Werder captain Clemens Fritz added: "We want to prepare as best we can for the season. We are aware that we are laying the foundation here. So we will give our all accordingly."
While he has not been on hand as often as Fritz, this year will be the second time for Nils Petersen on the second largest East Frisian island. "The first intensive sessions have definitely made you want more. Norderney is not exactly the nicest experience for footballers. But it's important to lay the foundation here," said the Werder striker.
