Werder head coach Robin Dutt made one thing clear at the press conference ahead of the Bayern Munich game (Saturday 18 October 2014 with Tipico Ticker starting at 3:15 p.m. on WERDER.DE): "I don't really need to artificially call Munich the favourites. We don't need to talk about the strength of Bayern. They are probably the best team in the world." But the up-coming showdown at the record champions is anything but hopeless for the Werder players. Dutt also made sure his team understood that.
"It's not improbable and not impossible to get points in Munich," said the Werder coach. After all, the games from the German national team showed that there's always a chance even against apparently superior opponents. "Maybe we are Ireland or Poland on Saturday. Especially with the Irish, they never let up with their attitude or body language, even if they made a number of bad passes after one another," observed Dutt, adding that there is nothing standing in the way for his team.
Dutt said his players are looking forward to the match. That could be seen also at training Thursday afternoon. The players on hand were determined and fully focused. "We deliberately built up the anticipation for this match. It has to be something good to play against the best of the best and be able to compare yourselves against them," said Dutt about the mood of his team. The players definitely believe in themselves. "We have nothing to lose and have not yet lost. History will not be written until after the match is over," added Dutt.
