Two early goals conceded, but twice showing good morale - that's a pretty basic round-up of SV Werder's 2-2 draw at Fortuna Düsseldorf. Both in the first half and after the re-start, the Green-Whites had to come back from an early goal. But Werder twice did so in earning at least one point.
"We came here and wanted three points. Unfortunately that didn't work out. But we showed the virtues today which are important in our situation. The team was fully concentrated and showed that they wanted to take something away from this game. The guys never gave up, instead fought into stoppage time to get a goal. The attitude was good. The two early deficits are very aggravating and is the only thing I can complain about the team today," said manager Thomas Eichin.
Werder.de collected more reaction to the match:
Thomas Schaaf: "Unfortunately we continue to fall behind. This is not a nice situation. What was good was that we twice found our way back into the game after the deficits and twice could equalise. We worked well as a team and pushed forward well. Therefore I am very satisfied with the performance of the team. But you cannot be happy about the goals we conceded."
Assani Lukimya: "We had planned on not conceding an early goal this time. Unfortunately that didn't work out. Then it was important that we didn't lose the match. It isn't easy, especially in Düsseldorf, to twice come back from deficits. But we scored the equaliser two times, which is something positive we should take out of this."
Nils Petersen: "We conceded a quick goal after both kick-offs. Of course that was too easy. But in the end we deservedly earned one point and we could have even had more. You could clearly see that we wanted more."
Kevin De Bruyne: "It doesn't matter against whom we play next week - we have to give our all to bring home the necessary points."
