While snow covered Weser Stadium over the course of Monday, the Werder players spent the day inside processing their 5-0 defeat against Dortmund. Head coach Thomas Schaaf said after the loss that there would be a long week of work, and he kept his word to start the week.

The entire team showed up Monday for an hours-long meeting in the East Curve media room to break down the match. "We need to draw the correct conclusions so we have a lot of work this week. And we will go at it intensively," said the coach. "There is fantasy in this team, but also the danger that every individual player can fluctuate. And we are in a situation in which the young players still need some time. But we will continue to work with them, we will continue to develop them. And part of that is encouraging the things that went well," said Schaaf, resilient to his path even after the Dortmund match.

The players listened intently to the coaching staff. "It's very normal that we intensively analyze this kind of game afterwards. We looked at everything exactly to make sure we don't have another game like it," said Zlatko Junuzovic.

In addition to the training work, Schaaf is also once again active in putting together the Bundesliga team. He did not rule out moves during the transfer window. "We always are looking to see if the roster can be improved. But in general, the winter transfer market doesn't have too many answers," said the Werder coach.
