On Thursday, new Argentine signing Franco Di Santo served up his first session in the SV Werder Bremen colours.

For the on-lookers it was clear - here is someone who is eager to make an impression and hopefully even be included in the squad for the clash with FC Augsburg on Saturday, 17.08.2013. "Firstly we'll have to wait and see if we have his playing licence by Saturday. If we do, then we'll have to see how far along he is by the weekend. Some can slot in immediately, other need more time to settle and get used to the tactical changes. Training will show us which way it's going," commented Robin Dutt on the new man.

Thomas Eichin added: „Of course we have high expectation of what Franco can do, otherwise we wouldn't have signed him, but we don't want to weigh him down too much right from the outset. So far as the future is concerned though, I have a great deal of fantasy as to how he can develop".

For trainer Dutt, the Argentine has everything the complete striker needs: „He is fast and technically very capable for a player of 1,93 meters. He is very present in his style of play and has experienced a lot in a very strong league. As team spirit has top priority for us, it was also important to sign the right character. That is definitely the case with Franco".

Di Santo enjoyed a very warm welcome from his new team mates and is already looking forward to the months ahead. The Argentine attacker is eager to get going: „The trainer has to make the decision as to whether I play on Saturday or not. As I am flexible and can play in a number of attacking positions, I can play wherever the coach most needs me".

There was another Werder player with a less positive outlook on Thursday. Clemens Fritz was forced to pull out of training after 30 minutes due to a thigh problem. Whether Fritz will join his new team mate in training on Friday remains to be seen.
