Both players wore the Royal Blue for half a year as the then 18-year-old Greenhorn Franco Di Santo and the 29-year-old internationally experienced scorer Claudio Pizarro played together with Chelsea from the 2007-08 winter break to the summer of 2008. The two offensive players did not play in a match together but the Argentinean and Peruvian developed a special relationship.
When Di Santo was considering signing a three-year contract with SV Werder in the summer of 2013, he asked his old Compañero Pizarro for advice. The veteran after all played two stages during his career along the Weser. And ‘Piza' suggested to Di Santo to sign the deal. Eight months have passed since then and Di Santo does not regret the move from Wigan Athletics to Werder. In the on-going second half, Di Santo has already scored three goals and assisted on another one. Things are going better and better for the good-spirited and relaxed South American.
In the first match this season, Bayern won 7-0 at Weser Stadium. "Of course it's time to make amends. We have gained a lot of confidence from the last few games. The situation is entirely different from the home match. We are really looking forward to the showdown and want to have the best possible performance," said the Argentinean optimistically. On Wednesday, Munich played against Real Madrid while Pizarro sat on the bench. Di Santo said it's all the more probable that Bayern coach Pep Guardiola will rotate the former Bremen player into the team on Saturday. "I am certain that he will play and then he will attack on the pitch," said Di Santo.
