He's running, fighting and scoring again. A highly satisfied Franco Di Santo finally completed his first complete training session with the team after recovering from his knee ligament injury. While he did not appear to be up to full strength yet, he definitely had not lost his sense of scoring goals. In addition to Di Santo, a recently banged up trio of players were also able to train in the first training session following the training camp in Belek.

Di Santo had a smile across his whole face after the Argentinean was able to train over the full session for the first time after his knee injury. "I feel really good and am really happy to be able to mix it up all the way. At the beginning I was a little scared but now everything is good," said Werder's top scorer after the Thursday session. The 25-year-old missed about eight weeks and is not yet back to full strength. "I still have a lot of work to get up to 100 percent," said Di Santo, who was able to score two goals in the training match and help his side to the win. "That felt good," said the striker with his typically big smile.

Head coach Viktor Skripnik also welcomed back three other players to team training. Clemens Fritz, Izet Hajrovic and Assani Lukimya, who all missed Werder's 3-2 test match win over Borussia Mönchengladbach, completed the Thursday session without any problems. Fin Bartels however did miss the practice on the Weser Stadium training grounds as the winger is dealing with a slight ankle injury which he suffered in the Gladbach match. His sitting out was solely a precautionary measure.
