At the end of the qualification tournament in Northern Ireland, Werder's U19 international Florian Hartherz came back for a 3-3 draw with the German national team against Belarus Tuesday, 11 October 2011.

After starting the tournament with a 5-1 win over hosts Northern Ireland, Horst Hrubesch's Germans booked their ticket for the U19 Euro2012 with a 2-0 victory over Montenegro. Hartherz started in the final match against Belarus in Portadown and played the full 90 minutes. Germany fell behind 3-0 but fought back for a 3-3 draw.

Another Werder player also was in action on Tuesday as Aleksandar Ignjovski and the Serbian U21 team played to a 0-0 draw against Denmark in Kragujevac, allowing the Serbs to remain in first place of the European Championship qualification tournament Group 4 ahead of second place Denmark - albeit with the Danes having a game in hand. "Iggy" played the full 90 minutes at Cika Daca Stadium.
