The German national team beat Uruguay 2-1 (2-0) in the benefit match for the Egidius Braun Foundation in Sinsheim, preparing the Germans for the up-coming Euro 2012 qualifiers in Austria (Friday, 8:30 p.m. live on ARD) and Azerbaijan (Tuesday, 7 p.m., live on ARD).

In front of 25,655 spectators at the international debut of the sold-out Rhein Neckar Arena, Werder keeper Tim Wiese did not play against Uruguay, who finished fourth at the 2010 World Cup. Mario Gomez (20th minute) and Andre Schürrle (35th) scored for Germany while Walter Gargano (48th) tallied for Uruguay.
