Even before the final whistle against Augsburg, it was clear to head coach Robin Dutt that his team would have to face the consequences for their performance. And he didn't wait long. Instead of the usual run down Sunday, the Werder players went through an intensive, one-hour run. In addition, Dutt has cancelled the day off of training for Monday.
"I always said that as long as the competitive mentality within the team is right and I cannot reproach them about anything, then I would not cancel any off days or give them additional training. But that was not the case yesterday. We dealt with that intensively today. I dealt with most of it internally and spoke very clearly. The most public thing will be that we will train twice tomorrow," said Dutt one day after the 3-1 loss against Augsburg.
The aggravation will not diminish until a good performance in the next match against Dortmund (Sat. 8 February 2014 at 3:30 p.m.). Cedrick Makiadi is sure of that. "We could not give the coach any good argument that this measure was not necessary. He gave us a clear talk. He has always protected us from the public. Now the players are called upon to give something back to the coach in form of a performance and reaction against Dortmund," said Makiadi.
