SV Werder Bremen GmbH & Co KG aA will continue their future with the chairman of the board Klaus Allofs and head coach Thomas Schaaf as all the sides agreed to deals on Monday. The supervisory board of the Green-Whites extended the contract with Allofs for three years until 30 June 2015 plus an option for an additional year. Afterwards, Allofs extended the club's contract with Schaaf for two years until 30 June 2014.

"We are very happy that our talks led to a successful conclusion. Our goal was to reach an agreement before Christmas. And we did that," said chairman of the supervisory board Willi Lemke. "This is a wonderful day. We have taken a long, successful path. Now we are very anxious to continue it. And of course we want to tap into the success of the recent years. I am happy that we were able to get an extension with Thomas Schaaf as the first step. It is very important that we could take care of this person, who is perhaps the most important for Werder Bremen, before the end of the year." "It is nice that we can continue this way. We still have lots to do and want to try to give the team an unmistakable face," said Schaaf, who is currently on winter holidays.

Manager Klaus Allofs has worked as sporting boss at Werder Bremen since 1999. Thomas Schaaf has held his function as head coach since May 1999, making him the longest-serving coach in the Bundesliga. By fulfilling his new contract, he would overtake Werder all-time coach Otto Rehhagel. Schaaf has been a member of SV Werder Bremen since 1972. He played through all levels of the Bremen teams and appeared in 262 Bundesliga matches from 1979 to 1995 in a Werder jersey. The sporting leadership duo guided Werder to the double in 2004 and the German DFB Cup victory in 2009 in addition to bringing the Green-Whites to the Champions League six times in seven years. Schaaf also won the German DFB Cup in 1999.
