When SV Werder head onto the pitch for their final home match of 2012 on Sunday at 5:30 p.m., it will mark the continuation of a long lasting tradition. Once again, the Green-Whites will be wearing their "Christmas jersey" in the game against Nuremberg with the Werder diamond in the form of a Christmas tree. The tradition dates back to the 2002-03 season with players wearing the jersey at the final home game of the calendar year.

That proved a good omen for Werder in last year's finale in front of the home fans as SVW beat VfL Wolfsburg 4-1 on 10 December 2011 at Weser Stadium.

The "Christmas jersey" is available for all Werder fans to purchase for the first time this winter. The "Home Sonderedition 2012" jersey is available only until December 24 at 1 p.m. in the Werder Fan Welt or in the online Fan Shop for 99.95€. Wrapped in exclusive wrappings, the package also includes a Werder Christmas tree stand as well as a greeting card in Werder design. In addition to the Christmas tree diamond, the "Christmas jersey" also features the official anniversary logo for 50 years of Bundesliga football.
