Damir Buric had a warm feeling in his heart Tuesday morning after landing at Bremen Airport and heading towards his future workplace with SV Werder Bremen and finally seeing Weser Stadium. "When I drive along the Weser and see Weser Stadium, for me it's one of the nicest stadiums in Germany. Bremen is simply something special. I am proud to be part of the Werder family," said the 48-year-old new Green-Whites assistant coach in an interview with WERDER.TV shortly after his arrival.
Over the next three years Buric will support Werder's new head coach Robin Dutt in his work along with goalkeeper coach Marco Langner - just like Buric did during their time together in Freiburg and Leverkusen. Buric spent the majority of his time with Freiburg, 17 years in total as a player and then assistant coach with the first and second teams. The defender celebrated the club's biggest success in the 1994-95 season as they finished third in the final Bundesliga table. Buric was Dutt's assistant when Freiburg earned promotion back to the Bundesliga in 2008-09.
Buric hopes to team up with Dutt and Langner to bring Bremen back to success. "We have worked a long time together and experienced many wonderful moments. I hope that we can carry that over to Bremen," said Buric.
